I’ve been very busy of late – but I’ve been trying to keep up with my spinning. At a recent guild meeting we practiced long draw spinning from a cloud of yak down. I ended up with 3/4oz and 80 yards of lovely soft plied yarn.
I have spun some thick and thin singles and plied them together. I now have two huge skeins of black and white Shetland (I plan to make a hat and scarf from these).
I also hope to do some weaving with my handspun. For this I’ve spun a single – long draw – of handpainted Corriedale (Birds of Paradise colourway from yarnscape). I’ll be using this as a single for the weft.
I’m also spinning some BFL worsted style (colourway Violetta also from yarnscape). I will be plying this to make a (hopefully) strong warp.
